FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH

I’m Dale Sullivan, a professional UK genealogist and family history researcher.

Are you trying to find a genealogist?  I have over 30 year’s experience in researching family history and can provide whatever support you require:  Whether it's a brief ' look-up' or the building of a whole family tree, checking birth, marriage and death indexes, electoral registers, newspapers, photographs or just a fresh pair of eyes to help you to move forward again.

Perhaps you want to know more about your family history but don't have the time to look? Or you're just not in the right location to pursue your genealogy project? Maybe you have lost a family member in a census or can't find that elusive wedding.  Whatever your need is you can use the menus above to find out more about me, to make contact, to see what services I offer, or to request a free evaluation.

My website pages aim to give you more information about what I do and how I may be able to help you in your research project.  Have a look at my blog as well, if you have time.

I am a Member of AGRA (the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives) and a Member of APG (The Association of Professional Genealogists).  Membership of these Associations gives you reassurance of the quality of research that you will be provided with, as each Associate / Member of these organisations is required to adhere to a code of practice.  You can read these codes of practice in the respective websites, links are included on my Links page.

Now for a bit more about me…. In the 1970’s and 1980’s I travelled with my mother, aunt and grandmother spending weeks away in the North East of the UK filling out the details of my maternal family tree.  These were times when the Internet, on-line resources and digital indexes were non-existent.  I therefore learnt exactly how and where to search for elusive information.

In 2008 I turned my long time hobby into my profession in order to help others to trace their roots.  Now, with the significant development of on-line resources, finding some information is now fairly quick and easy.  Many other researchers just offer this ‘Internet service’ alone.  However, it is only really researchers like myself who can combine targeted searches of on-line resources with the physical archives who can provide a complete and effective research service.

During these hectic few years, rootSleuth has gone from strength to strength.  I have worked with hundreds of clients and together we’ve gone on to expand their knowledge of their family and origins.

“Dear Dale.  This is just a short note to thank you for getting a ‘result’ on my ancestry research problems.  Living in France I have limited access to original documents linked to my English ancestry and had reached a brick wall.  Thanks to you I have been able to move on and discover even more family links.  Thanks again for all your timely and informative research.”  Ray, France.
