GENEALOGY PROJECT PROGRESS

As the genealogy or family history research project work progresses:

I will report back at as follows:-

At agreed milestones, either on a set basis (e.g. weekly/monthly),
or, when I achieve an objective
or, when I find something that might cause us to re-evaluate the course of the project so e.g. you can advise me which newly discovered lines to research further.
Where an initial budget or upper limit has been set, I will work within and up to that limit only.  If the limit is reached before the request has been completed, I will report back for an agreement on the way forward.
I will provide a summary of costs to date at appropriate points during the project, or when you request it.
You can ask me to stop at any time, or you may wish me to extend the project.
If you are impressed with my results (which is nearly always the case) then you may wish to extend the objectives of the project, in which case I will amend the estimate accordingly.
I do not expect 100% payment up front, instead following the down payment I will invoice at appropriate intervals during the project and require prompt payment please. Thank you.

Reports - Reports will be provided in typed form, detailing all the information found in my search.  I will either email or post reports, depending upon what we have agreed.

Documents - As stated above, the cost of obtaining copies of documents, for example, microfiche printouts and photocopies from the repositories, is not included in my hourly rate.  These will be charged to you at cost.

Photographs - Photos will be supplied in high resolution electronic format either by email or on CD, depending upon what you prefer.  The cost of any hard copy photographs requested by you will be dependent upon the size of the photo paper you require.

Please feel free to ask for an individual quote if none of these options suits your research requirements

Please be aware that by their nature, surviving family records are often misleading or inaccurate. Many historical records contain illegible handwriting, multiple variations of surname spellings and an infinite variety of errors. Official authoritative electronic databases often contain mis-transcriptions of original texts, particularly where the transcription has been undertaken overseas. For this reason, every family tree research project is vulnerable to the occasional inaccuracy. I make every reasonable effort to verify the findings of my research, however while the quality of my own research is of a high standard, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the findings where evidence is unreliable or contradictory. If you believe you have spotted a mistake in my research findings then please contact me with the full details. I may, at my discretion, be able to verify your findings and update the family tree documents for you at no charge.
